(Doha, March 6-8, 2017)

QITCOM 2017 was held in Doha (Qatar) from March 6 to 8. This is an important technological event, and our organization, Persei vivarium, was fortunate to be invited by the Qatari government.

The QITCOM Exhibition and Conference is Qatar’s biggest digital event, connecting smart technology with international expertise, industry specialists, key government decision makers, innovators, and entrepreneurs. It brings together a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders from the technology sector to exchange ideas and collaborate towards achieving the vision of a smarter Qatar, toward achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 to build a knowledge-based, technology-driven economy.

I’m writing this post from the airplane, still feeling the warmth and care that we received during our stay.

It has hardly been five days since Rosa, Miguel, and I left Madrid, loaded with folders, roll ups, and anticipation, and we are returning full of positive impressions and important reflections.

Without a doubt, at Persei vivarium we are very aware of the impact that ClinicaaL® has on any pathology to which it applies … about how the transformation of the information from a healthcare process into research, indicators, and prediction can produce very important knowledge about a pathology and its therapies.

We also know that when we apply that country-wide, the result is just incredible. For this reason, we are full of anticipation with regard to the very high interest that ClinicaaL® generated in Qatar. This is a country that is laying everything on the table to encourage innovation, and is incorporating disruptive elements in every part of its ambitious project, the “Smart Qatar program (health, environment, transportation, logistics, and sports).

The accessibility of their leaders was a fantastic surprise. Our display was viewed by the Minister of Public Health (Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari), the Minister of Transportation & Communication (His Excellency Mr. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti), the Assistant Undersecretary, Digital Society Development Sector (Mrs. Reem Al Mansoori), and even the Emir of the State of Qatar himself (His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani). Their degree of interest in innovation and in our own project, conveyed through well-targeted questions, made us think that their Smart Qatar project is going to be a thorough success.

The doors of Qatar are open to innovative businesses in digital health and in the other fields encompassed by their program. We encourage entrepreneurs to visit Qatar and discover the opportunities provided by that country.

Before finishing the post, I want to thank Oscar, Esther, and their delightful daughters, for the care with which they surrounded us during our stay. You are extraordinary.

And of course I want to thank my travel companions,Rosa and Miguel. As always, you have been exceptional bearers of the Persei vivarium spirit. Thank you for your laughter, for your empathy, and for the immense amount of work you did.

And finally, thanks to the rest of our team because, while all this was happening in Qatar, they were hard at work finishing the first stage of an ALS – related project that is going to have significant impact and results.
