Persei vivarium joins the Universal Health Coverage Day!

At least half of the world’s population still do not have full coverage of essential health services. About 100 million people are still being pushed into “extreme poverty” (living on 1.90 USD (1) or less a day) because they have to pay for health care. Over 800 million people (almost 12% of the world’s population) spent at least 10% of their household budgets to pay for health care. All UN Member States have agreed to try to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) by 2030, as part of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Universal Health Coverage means that ALL individuals & communities receive the health services they need without suffering hardship. Universal Health Coverage includes the full spectrum of essential, quality health services: promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care.

Health and human rights must always go hand in hand. People have a right to healthcare, and to be treated with dignity and respect when they access it. Yet, harmful laws, policies and practices – including discrimination and abuse directed against health workers – too often prevent people from getting the care they need, and can cause serious mental and physical health harms.

Persei vivarium joins all those involved from policy-makers to health workers, patients, communities and companies. We must collaborate to ensure we are all playing a role in protecting people’s human rights and dignity, and standing up to abuses whenever they occur.

We cannot leave anyone behind. It`s time for #HealthForAll
