On September, Osakidetza (Basque Health Service) gathered more than 150 experts at the “Digital Health Congress: Connecting Health” in San Sebastian. The group included healthcare professionals, managers, technology companies, universities and patients.

Our company, Persei vivarium, participated in this meeting that sought to enhance the collaboration of different health agents in discussing and generating useful knowledge for society.

The main objectives of the session were:

  • Find opportunities for using artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain for decision making
  • Determining the role of social networks in connected health
  • Increasing the role and input of citizens in these new scenarios
  • Sharing experiences among the attendees.
  • Reflecting on Digital Health challenges and raise awareness about its value

Among the participants of this event were Joan Cornet, Director of the European Connected Health Alliance (ECHAlliance), who emphasized the need to communicate and share what we know: “To change the world, we need tools that make it possible. We want to create a community and a health ecosystem in which all the participants can participate”, Jaime del Barrio, President of ASD, who talked about 10 challenges in Digital Health and the opportunity that they provide, and Jaume Reventós, General Director of ITA.

Marisa Merino, Director of the congress, closed the event with a positive assessment about the feedback received and mentioned that the expectations were exceeded thanks to a great participation. For that reason, she confirmed the celebration of the next edition of this congress, in 2019.

The congress, organized by the Osakidetza Basque Health Service, had the collaboration of the Digital Health Association, the Spanish Society of Primary Care Managers (SEDAP), and the Signo Foundation.
