Launch and progress of the NavigAIT.me clinical study, which collects patient-reported data from people with allergies through the Caaring® digital platform

At the beginning of the year, NavigAIT.me was successfully launched, a project by the SEAIC (Spanish Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology), coordinated by the Fundación Hospital Infantil Niño Jesús and led by Dr. Pablo Rodríguez del Río, Consultant Specialist in Allergology at the hospital. This is a prospective controlled clinical study involving patients with respiratory allergies, aimed at improving adherence to aeroallergen immunotherapy, commonly known as “allergy shots”. In this real-world research project, the aim is to empower patients by enabling them to report their own data through the Caaring® mobile app, while also receiving educational resources to help them better manage their condition and treatment. 

As with other chronic treatments, immunotherapy—which must be administered for at least three years to achieve sustained efficacy—faces the challenge of maintaining long-term treatment adherence. Only around 35% of patients remain on treatment for the minimum three-year period required, as reported in a recent study, which can have significant negative consequences for health outcomes. 

Against this background, NavigAIT.me was created as a multi-year clinical study, made possible by the voluntary participation of numerous centres and researchers across Spain. Its primary objective is to improve therapeutic adherence to aeroallergen immunotherapy through the use of the Caaring® digital platform. 

The Caaring® digital platform, developed by Persei vivarium, provides patients with a mobile application featuring a specific care pathway that includes questionnaires, educational resources and reminders designed to support the self-management of their immunotherapy treatment. At the same time, it provides healthcare professionals with a tool to monitor their patients’ progress, reported data and use of the application. 

Since its launch, the NavigAIT.me study has continued to progress successfully, with 43 participating researchers and 113 patients already enrolled. Over the coming months, the project is expected to continue growing steadily, helping to generate valuable data on allergy treatment that will contribute to a better understanding of adherence and, ultimately, to improving patients’ health and quality of life.
