International Women’s Day 2025: “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”.

As every year, Persei vivarium joins the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8. In 2025, this day is observed under the theme proposed by UN Women: “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted by 189 governments in 1995. This was the most progressive action plan ever established to lay the foundation for advancing the rights of women and girls worldwide. The plan enabled the development of policies and programs, access to essential services, changes in social norms, and the participation of women in various spheres of life.

In the current global context of uncertainty and social crises, 2025 has become a crucial year to continue advancing toward gender equality worldwide—seeking equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal power, while focusing actions in three key areas:

- Advancing the rights of women and girls. Combating all forms of violence, discrimination, and exploitation.
- Promoting gender equality. Addressing pre-existing barriers and transforming inequalities to ensure inclusion and the empowerment of women and girls.
- Fostering empowerment. Prioritizing and ensuring inclusive access to education, employment, leadership, and decision-making spaces so that women can lead and innovate.

Achieving this requires the collaboration of society as a whole, along with the active participation of key stakeholders with influence and decision-making power. By working together, we can drive investment and implement actions that ensure gender equality globally within this generation.
